The Master of Divinity (M.Div.) is the first professional degree for pastors. The Master of Theology (Th.M.) is the next step in the sequence — a postgraduate degree after the M.Div. for pastors. Academically speaking, divinity refers to the state of things that come from God (the state of being divine) and are regarded as sacred and holy, whereas theology refers to the study of the nature of God, religious faith, practices, and experience. Homiletics is the art of writing and preaching sermons. The Doctor of Ministry (D.Min.) is a professional doctorate for pastors. A description of expository preaching and teaching can be found on the sermons tab.
